OPENROOMCFB / ABOUT
OpenRoomCFB started with one question every transfer and recruit asks: where will I actually get a chance to play? Answering it meant checking 138 roster pages by hand. So we built the tool we wished we'd had.
THE STORY
OpenRoomCFB was founded by a former Division I football player who went through the transfer process himself. When you enter the portal or pick a college, the most important question is rarely asked out loud: how crowded is my position room, and who's leaving?
That information exists, but it's spread across 138 roster pages, stat sites and portal trackers. Families and high school coaches without recruiting staffs end up guessing. OpenRoomCFB puts it in one place, ranked, so players can spend their time on schools where the opportunity is real.
WHAT IT DOES
Position openings
Every FBS program ranked by how much of your position room is graduating or running out of eligibility.
Rosters and stats
Full rosters with class years, plus game-by-game stats tailored to each position.
Transfer portal
Each program's last portal cycle by position, updated daily.
Academics and coaches
Bachelor's majors offered at every school, and each head coach with their tenure.
HOW THE NUMBERS WORK
For transfers, players at your position who are seniors or fifth-years this season. For high school recruits, everyone who will have used their eligibility by the fall you arrive.
Rosters, stats, head coaches and portal entries come from CollegeFootballData.com. Majors come from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard.
Rosters and stats update twice a week; transfer portal entries update every day.
Class years come from recruiting records, so some walk-ons and transfers show as unknown and aren't counted as leaving. Numbers are a starting point for research, not a guarantee of playing time. Always confirm details with the school.
